University of Michigan researchers find HIV hiding in bone marrow cells

Here's a look at some of the top health news being talked about around the U.S. and the world today:
• The HIV virus appears to hide in the bone marrow cells within the body, University of MIchigan researchers found, explaining why HIV doesn't disappear even when the levels of the AIDS virus in the blood is eliminated. As reported in Business Week, it offers scientists a new target, but also new challenges.
• Diabetics who use an insulin pump appear to have more problems from improperly using the pump than experiencing defects from the device, panel members from a government advisory board said, according to Reuters. The devices are being examined after problems have been reported industry-wide with the pumps.
• Lawmakers still working to create health reform in Washington might do well to examine hospitals like an American Indian hospital in Arizona. The small hospital has been able to keep Caesarean sections down among births there much more effectively than richer hospitals in a nation where nearly one-third of deliveries are now Caesarean.
• Rate hikes being requested or instituted by insurance companies across the nation - including a 56 percent proposed hike in Michigan premiums for individual policies - have been bolstering the health care debate in recent weeks.
